Feeling stressed? Need a pick-me-up?
Why not take some time out with a special day to yourself when you can not only enjoy some pampering in a beautiful spa but learn simple, calming exercises you can use at home to ease tension in both body and mind.
Join me for a women’s-only all-day session at the luxurious Devonshire Dome spa in the centre of Buxton on Saturday 24 March from 10am-4pm.
In the morning I’ll guide you through a range of relaxation techniques, including a mindfulness taster, to enable you to “let go” more effectively. Mindfulness is a very useful way to train your mind to stay in the present. This stops the chatter in our heads and brings a sense of wellbeing. You’ll learn other ways too, using gentle stretching, breathing and visualisation to calm the whole body.
All the exercises can be carried out seated, standing or lying down – whatever is most comfortable for you.
During the morning session you’ll also discover how good nutrition can contribute to your mental and physical wellbeing. Wellness coach Christine Tilbury will explain how making simple changes to your daily diet can help stabilise your moods, calm your body and make you feel healthier and generally better able to cope with life’s stresses.
After a light lunch, it's time to immerse yourself in the stunning Devonshire Spa with its 150 year history of healing therapies.
Enjoy the waters of this beautiful spa’s azure tiled hydrotherapy swimming pool, taking advantage of the massage water jets and the Jacuzzi to gently ease tensions away. Relax in the sauna or steam room, interspersed with crushed ice rubs from the ice fountain to help to stimulate the release of toxins. Or maybe you’d prefer to simply wrap yourself in a warm bathrobe and relax on the calming loungers with a good book or magazine. Finally, enjoy a scented massage or a beauty treatment.
By the end of the day you will have had a top-to-toe, inside-out calming makeover that will leave you feeling very relaxed indeed – and you’ll have learned new ways to bring calm into your life at any time.
